Ceramic Coating
in Melbourne
Professional ceramic coating for Melbourne drivers. Booked in at our Cranbourne North studio, 45 minutes from Melbourne.
Why Melbourne drivers book ceramic coating
Melbourne weather is the reason paint here ages the way it does. Summer sun sits on a parked bonnet for eight hours at a stretch, bayside air carries salt, the inner east drops sap through half the year, and every freeway run lays down a film of fine grit. None of it announces itself. You notice it the first time you park a five-year-old car next to a new one in the same colour.
A ceramic coating is a silica layer cured into the factory clear coat rather than laid on top of it, which is why it keeps working for years where a wax is gone in weeks. Contamination sits on the coating instead of bonding to the paint, rain sheets off rather than beading and drying into spots, and the UV barrier slows the oxidation that turns a dark car chalky. On a Melbourne daily driver it is the cheapest protection against the thing that actually costs money later, which is resale.
Every coating is applied in the studio at Cranbourne North, in Melbourne's south-east. That is not a convenience, it is a requirement. Bonding needs clean air, a stable temperature and lighting hard enough to expose defects before the coating locks them in, and none of that exists in a driveway. From the CBD it is about 45 minutes down EastLink or the M1, and considerably less from the south-east. Paint Enhancement with a sealant usually goes home the same afternoon; a full correct-and-coat stays with us a day or two.
What ceramic coating actually does
It's not wax. It's not a polish. It's a chemically bonded layer that does four specific things to your factory paint.
Locks out contamination
Tar, bug guts, bird droppings and tree sap can't bond directly to the clear coat anymore. They sit on top of the ceramic layer and wash off cleanly.
Hydrophobic beading
Water beads up and rolls off instead of clinging. Rain effectively rinses the car as you drive. Drying after a wash is a five-minute job, not twenty.
UV resistance
Melbourne sun fades clear coat over years of exposure. Ceramic adds a UV-stable barrier that slows the oxidation that turns paint dull and chalky.
Deeper gloss
Light refracts cleanly through a coated surface. Colours look richer, dark cars look wetter, metallic flake actually pops. It's the look you remember from the showroom.
Three ways to protect your paint
Entry-level sealant through to a full multi-year ceramic. If you are driving in from the other side of town it is worth settling the tier on the phone first, so the car goes straight onto the right job on the day.

Ceramic Coating Melbourne - FAQs
How long does ceramic coating last?
Most ceramic coatings hold up between three and eight years depending on the product applied and how the car is maintained. Garage-kept cars and vehicles that get washed properly (no automatic brush washes) hold the gloss and beading longest. We talk you through which tier fits your car and your driving pattern when you book in.
Do I need paint correction before ceramic coating?
If you want the ceramic to look its best for years, yes. Coating locks in whatever is on the paint at the time of application, including swirl marks, light scratches and water spots. Our Correction & Coating package handles both stages in one booking so the ceramic is laid down on freshly corrected, perfectly clean paint.
How long does the booking take?
Paint Enhancement with a ceramic sealant is typically a single day. Full Correction & Coating usually takes one to two days depending on the size and condition of the vehicle. We confirm the timeline when we quote so you know when to drop off and pick up.
Can I wash my car normally after a ceramic coating?
Yes, with two caveats. Skip the automatic brush washes at the local servo because they undo the work. Stick to a two-bucket hand wash with a pH-neutral shampoo. Ceramic makes the wash easier because dirt sheets off rather than bonding to the paint.
Are you mobile? Can you come to me in Melbourne?
Not for coating. The bonding stage is unforgiving - airborne dust, a humidity swing or poor light all end up sealed permanently under the ceramic - so every coating is applied at the Cranbourne North studio. It is roughly 45 minutes from the CBD via EastLink or the M1. Mobile headlight restoration is the one service that does travel, as a separate add-on.
How much is ceramic coating in Melbourne?
Pricing starts at $350 for Paint Enhancement finished with a ceramic sealant, and from $1,100 for the full multi-year system where the paint is corrected first and coated over the top. Where a car lands inside that comes down to its size, the condition of the paint and how long you plan to keep it, so we confirm the figure once we have seen it.
Is it worth driving across Melbourne for a coating?
That is your call, and it depends on the tier. For a sealant on a tidy car, probably not - book something closer. For a full correction and multi-year coating the car is with us for a day or two either way, so the drive happens twice on a job that lasts years. Most of our out-of-area work is the second kind.
